Alex Jones built an empire worth $270 million on lies and conspiracy theories. The Austin jury announced that the false claims by right-wing conspiracy theorists about the deadliest elementary school shooting in American history were a gigantic fraud, creating a living hell for families.
The conspiracy theorist that already lost his parent’s libel suit has asked a Texas jury to decide how much money he owes in compensatory damages to Scarlett Lewis and Neal Heslin. One of the parents among 26 people killed during the Sandy Hook Elementary School. The answer: $45.2 million in punitive damages!
Free Speech Systems filed for bankruptcy in Texas about a week before Jones’s attorneys sought to transfer the Connecticut defamation suit. In addition, Jones’s estate and the company Infowars filed for bankruptcy during the first week of trial.
Hopefully, this sets a trend that will affect other notorious pathological liars like politicians and television channels that willingly amplify the messages. It’s about time!
